Inspired one of the many cooking and baking scenes in It's Complicated, where Meryl Streep, a bakery/cafe owner shows Steve Martin how to make home-made croissant. They hand rolled and buttered each layer, rolling it through a pastry machine over and over, to create the flaky layers of croissant dough. Then she tucked multiple chocolate squares inside the dough and baked them. Needless to say, I recreated this event this morning, but with a tiny shortcut.
I went to Trader Joe's and purchased chocolate croissants and proofed them overnight. They rose by 3x and then I baked them for 22 minutes.
